Putting Your Ideas Into Action
My Vision: I'm Barbara Smiley, and I'm running for District 2 Supervisor. This district encompasses a most diverse landscape including the community of El Dorado Hills, the vineyards of Fairplay and the forested landscapes of Grizzly Flats and Twin Bridges. You need a supervisor who will listen to you, identify your needs and take action on your behalf. I have always been involved in community development; for the past eight years I have been active in El Dorado County working in the community and with community groups to make a difference. I will put my experience to work for you.
Manage Our Future Growth: We need housing for our seniors and our children building families of their own. Assist industries to remain, expand or locate here to create good jobs for people living here. We must plan for growth and determine how best to develop the land, build the infrastructure, and capitalize on the rural environment we have come to enjoy. Let’s not create urban sprawl.Create a Thriving Economy: Encourage commercial growth that provides the goods and services needed here and adds to the sales tax revenue. Utilize the natural, historic and people resources we have here to support agri-tourism with retail shops, restaurants and lodging. The commercial growth should fit into the overall strategic plan envisioned by neighborhood groups.
Retain Local Control: Work with community groups to map the land development and infrastructure needed in their neighborhood areas. Development plans must be transparent to residents who need to be involved in the planning process. Streamline county processes and make government more accessible to public with improved technology and meetings scheduled when they can attend.
I will work with YOU in our community
